Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on the 10th of March 1949. She is an American investor, speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran quit the firm shortly after. Corcoran, one of ABC's original Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, Corcoran had made 53 deals, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment which was able to cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 children born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class located in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence, Corcoran's mother, was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was a bouncing from job to job throughout Corcoran's childhood. Her family often relied on the free delivery of food from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran recalls her father as a man who often drank too much and was rude to her mother and condescension, particularly after he'd consumed alcohol. Corcoran struggled with her education and was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia. She was a student at an area Catholic elementary school before beginning high school in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a diploma in English, despite not completing several classes in her freshman years.
